Evaluating the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on Jordanian Host Communities

May 23, 2014

To accompany the launch of the recent report: Evaluating the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on Jordanian Host Communities
, REACH organised a workshop in Geneva in April 2014 to present and discuss the findings. The project was funded by the British Embassy in Amman and carried out in collaboration with the Government of Jordan.

REACH has been present in Jordan since October 2012, and has throughout this time worked with a variety of stakeholders both inside camp settings and in host communities, to inform a more effective response to the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis. Throughout 2013, REACH has gradually increased its presence in host communities, conducting assessments and analysis for a wide range of actors. Adequately addressing the challenges to social cohesion and resilience is critical in an effective response, and is identified by the GoJ as a cross-cutting theme under the National Resilience Plan 2014 – 2016 (NRP).

The purpose of the workshop was to engage in a discussion on the challenges faced by Jordan in its response to the refugee crisis, particularly as in regards challenges to social cohesion and resilience. To do this, the workshop was structured into a three key components: presentation of key findings; panel statements; and a panel discussion. REACH is pleased to share the report and project presentation from the workshop. The reports provides a summary of the presentations and discussions at a workshop.
