On Sunday, March 4th 2012, an ammunition depot exploded in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo. The explosion affected an estimated 125,000 people and caused significant human losses and physical damage, leading to a high level of internal displacement.

In the aftermath of the disaster, a REACH team was deployed to Brazzaville to support the humanitarian response by carrying out rapid assessments on displacement and damage, collecting information through field interviews and by analysing images derived from remote sensing.
